K-Beauty – Avon
Avon’s K-Beauty line is a range of skincare and beauty products inspired by South Korean trends. It’s all about achieving dewy, youthful skin that looks great without make-up.
Avon approached us with beautifully designed products that used manga or anime-inspired artwork. They were looking for us to produce ingredient-focused social media animations to promote their new K-Beauty range on Facebook and Instagram.
Given the South Korean-inspired product artwork, it made sense to use a similar style for the social media animations. We next put forward several concepts. Then in collaboration with Avon, we settled on an animation style that included actual images of key ingredients.
We developed storyboards and refined them with input from Avon. Then , following signoff on the storyboards, we developed hand-drawn graphics to complement the product ingredient photographs.
Next it was on to animation. We took colours from Avon’s K-Beauty branding to tie the videos closely to the products. Using virtual camera movement and smooth motion brought the ingredients to life, as did showing the graphical elements being drawn in real time. Finally, we created versions in 16:9, 9:16, and 1:1 formats, allowing the animations to be used as stories, profile videos, and IGTV videos.
