The Tubby Tyre Scooter Company
We’ve been working with the Tubby Tyre Scooter Company since 2019, when came to us looking for campaign photography to help launch their first electric scooter ranges. Since then, we’ve worked also worked with them across product photography, video, and social media.
The Tubby Tyre brand is fun and vibrant, so we knew from the word ‘go’ that the campaign we came up with needed to reflect that. Working closely with Tubby Tyre, we came up with the idea of producing four campaign videos, each highlighting one of Tubby Tyre’s core USPs:
- Ideal for weaving through the city; allowing commuters to save time
- Eco-friendly; kind to the environment
- Versatile; the perfect holiday companion
- Electric; plugs directly into the mains
We used 2D foamboard props that were cartoonish and eye-catching, matching the fun nature of the brand. In each video, the props were pulled apart to reveal a top-of-the-range Tubby Tyre electric scooter. We followed up each reveal with messages supporting the USP, and mention of the Tubby Tyre website. As well as campaign photography and video, we produced high quality product photography to highlight different scooter models and features.
After supplying Tubby Tyre with the campaign videos and product shots, we provided them with a social media report advising how best to use the newly-created content. Several months later, Tubby Tyre approached us again for help with social media management. We began managing Tubby Tyre’s social media presence in September 2019, and continue to do so, generating engagement and conversation to endear the Tubby Tyre brand to would-be purchasers.
In 2020, Tubby Tyre returned to us with a new model of scooter, this time aimed at younger, city-centre commuters. They needed slick product photography and video.
There were several sets of deliverables for this project. The new scooter – The Special One – has a very distinctive look; it comes in nine eye-catching colours and boasts a halo LED headlight front and centre. Tubby Tyre wanted a striking new video that rotated through the available colours, for use on their website and social media pages.
We brought The Special One into our studio and shot it front on against a black backdrop. At the time of the shoot, we could only get our hands on an orange version of the scooter. Having been provided with colour information for the other eight variants, we adjusted the colour of the orange shot to match each of the other colours in turn. In addition to the black backdrop photography and video, Tubby Tyre needed white backdrop product photography for each colour to match the product photography delivered for them in 2019, so that photography for all scooter models was consistent.
As above, we only had access to an orange scooter on the day, and made adjustments in post production to create photography for the remaining eight colours.
We’re really happy with how the product photography and video came out, and can’t wait to see how well this new scooter range does.
